It may surprise you to know that Kyoto was the capital of Japan for well over one thousand years. For many centuries, the city was considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world, but years of industrialisation have hidden some of its more aesthetically pleasing features. Kyoto is a massive, modern city in the tradition of the great Asian cultures, and it provides visitors with a unique blend of ancient Eastern cultures and the modern trappings of Western culture. Renting a holiday apartment in Kyoto will give you both the privacy and comfort to get the most out of your visit to this vibrant and fascinating city.
Live in Luxury and Seclusion with Holiday Apartments in Kyoto
Such is the historical importance and great beauty of the ancient areas of Kyoto, UNESCO gave 17 sites in the city World Heritage status in 1994. The Imperial Palaces and Villas of Kyoto are amongst the most visited attractions in the Kyoto. The Imperial, Sento Imperial, Katsura Imperial and Shugakuin Imperial palaces are incredible examples of classic Japanese architecture, and their popularity means that viewing them is by reservation only. Public baths have played a huge role in Japanese society over the years, and there are several scattered around the city that offer a therapeutic work-over, one thousand years in the making. Perhaps the most impressive example of this ancient Japanese tradition can be found at Funaoka Onsen, which is the city’s oldest and most impressive bathhouse. Whatever you decide to do with your time in Kyoto, make sure you enjoy the trappings of luxury and the seclusion that a holiday apartment in Kyoto-Shi provides.
Get Involved in the Local Community with Holiday Accommodation in Kyoto
The abundance of Buddhist Temples in this great city attracts spiritualists from around the world. Surrounded by the chaos of a modern city, these elegant buildings play host to several meditation sessions every day. Although Kyoto is now a heavily industrialised urban area, there are some reminders of its more genteel past. The Higashiyama District, for instance, is a painstakingly preserved residential district that dates back several centuries. A series of narrow, cobbled streets host a wide variety of ancient Japanese dwellings of the kind Westerners generally associate with the Orient. Wander around this beautiful, historic district at your leisure, and browse the local shops for some authentic souvenirs to take home. Whilst there are many tourist attractions in Kyoto, sampling local life can be just as rewarding as sight-seeing. Renting your own holiday residence from 9flats will immerse you in a real Japanese community, and that is simply not possible when staying in a hotel.
Whether you’re in search of holiday accommodation in Tokyo or vacation homes in Cape Town, booking your home from home with 9flats offers many of the benefits associated with couchsurfing in Kyoto. However, the 9flats experience also includes plentiful supplies of luxury and privacy.

A lovely apartment with large windows giving light and a great view along the canal, would be spectacular in Cherry Blossom season. A very short walk to Heian shrine, very close to bus stops for trips around Kyoto with convenience stores within easy walking distance. The apartment is has advertised, and extremely quiet at night time. Had a great stay.
