Leipzig is a great cultural centre in the German state of Saxony and thrills visitors with more than 1,000 years of history and a vibrant arts and music scene. Leipzigers enjoy their cool city and renting a holiday apartment in Leipzig allows you to experience the atmosphere first hand. Living alongside the local residents, you will soon feel more part of the city rather than a tourist and you might pick up some great tips from the locals which you would never hear about if you were isolated in a typical tourist hotel. You can think of renting holiday accommodation in Leipzig as being like couchsurfing in Leipzig but with the added comfort and privacy of having you own room or even private apartment.
Enjoying the culture at your holiday apartment in Leipzig
Leipzig has an excellent local transport system and wherever your holiday apartment in Leipzig you should be able to get around easily. For convenience, try getting a Leipzig card. This will get you free travel on all Leipzig trams and buses and also up to 50% discounts on museum entry and other cultural events, along with money off restaurants and cafes. For music lovers, the Leipzig Music Trail is a great walking route where you can discover many sites associated with famous local composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Richard Wagner. It is also just a great way to see the city. The route is marked by a curved steel inset in the ground and winds its way through 5 kilometers of musical history. The tour is circular, so you can start and finish anywhere and at each stop you will find audio samples and information about the composer.
Finding your ideal holiday accommodation in Leipzig
A holiday apartment in Zentrum will see you staying right at the heart of Leipzig’s historic centre. You can explore the cafes and bars in the winding streets of the old town and you are also close to attractions such as St. Nicholas church and the Bach museum. North of the centre, you can stay in a holiday apartment in Gohlis which is considered by many to be the most beautiful part of the city. It is also the home of the composer Schiller and is where he wrote part of his famous work “Ode to Joy”.
Leipzig is certainly one of Germany’s cultural jewels, but for a change of pace why not rent a holiday apartment in Berlin where the German capital will seduce you with its tumultuous history and uber cool arts and nightlife scenes. Outside of Germany, a holiday apartment in Prague is just a short flight away. Here you can wander across the Charles bridge and explore the historic castle and Old Town. Don’t forget to enjoy some of the local beer which is rightly acclaimed as some of the best in the world. Alex has a beautiful flat in a lovely area of the city! We stayed here for a month in August and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The street is so old and quiet; near to many lovely bars and cafes and a short walk from the plagwitz canal. The flat itself is huge and light, and it was a luxury to have a bath tub. All in all, a really good choice. We highly recommend staying here :)Natasha reviewed Große/Helle/Ruhige 1-Zi. Wohnung in Lausen
2 couples stayed in the apartment and there was plenty of room. The only negative was that due to the very hot weather the upstairs bedroom was quite warm at night.
The apartment was most comfortable and convenient and very good value. It was close to the station and all sites in the old town. We all enjoyed our stay in Leipzig and recommend the apartment.Jenny reviewed #5 MAISONETTE BOUTIQUE APARTMENT in Lausen
