О Manja

We're a very easy-going couple, we moved into town in April this year because we more or less 'live' in the restaurants here when not at the Opera, Gewandhaus or Theatre. Together we run a small record label, separately I'm a producer and sound engineer with over 30 years in the music industry and Manja is a mature law student running her own very busy Reiki practice. We both work from home, up at 6.30 every day breakfast at 8.00, and Manja off to her Reiki room and me into my home studio, generally working until dinner at 20.00 with lunch out somewhere in the middle. It's 'work hard play harder' for us and the main reason for joining 9flats.com is the enjoyment of finding new friends and networking with new people. I'm English, born in Hertfordshire and moved to Germany two years ago after meeting Manja, who is German, her English is perfect my German isn't. We have a crazy cat called Monster but you probably won't meet her because she is very shy and will hide in her cupboard when you are here, you'll know she is here when you find all the toilet tissue in your guest bathroom unravelled on the floor, it's her favourite game. We’ve only been in our new place for a few weeks (April 2012) but we love it, it’s the space we need at 200 square metres and it’s in exactly the right location for enjoying central city life, we’ve been in Leipzig for just over a year but we still haven’t scratched the surface, there is so much to see and do we believe it will take years to cover it all, there is always something going on and the best bit is most of it is free, there are several concerts throughout the year on the market square and or Augustusplatz in front of the Opera house, the atmosphere in the city is terrific there is never any trouble with a real sense of we all ‘rub along’ together, we had planned to eventually move to Florence (Italy) but Leipzig is in our hearts now and this is where we’ll stay, with the biggest shopping mall in Europe two minutes from our front door opening in September (2012) and the multi-billion mainline railway development bringing people straight into the market square at the end of 2013 the city will get busier we know, but it’s our city now, and we’ll do our best to keep it free, live and let live, and a family friendly city where ours will be growing up.
