Unconventional Spain: a different tour
Are you looking for an original travel idea, far from the usual, common tourist itineraries?
Here are some unusual suggestions for an alternative trip to Spain.
Who said that only the most famous tourist places are worth a visit? In Spain, from north to south, there are many lesser known but not less suggestive locations. Let's start the tour.

Cedeira
|
Cedeira, Galicia
The small town of Cedeira is an excellent example of the most authentic beauty of Spain. Located in the Rías Altas region, it stands out for its mountainous formations, and when the view extends over the sea from the surrounding hills, even a comparison with the most famous Norwegian fjords does not seem so risky.
Explore the town and admire the traditional Galician architecture and beautiful old buildings with large windows before relaxing on one of the immaculate beaches: here, in the north of Spain, you will be one of the few visitors and you won't have any space problems.

Jerez de la Frontera
|
Southern Spain, almost Africa, that means: summer, sun, sea and all evil thoughts disappear in no time. You can really let your soul dangle when you rent an apartment in Jérez de la Frontera and forget the everyday life in your cold home. 30 degrees, mild wind, white beaches and Spanish food will make your holiday in Andalusia unforgettable.
Jérez is close to the beautiful Costa de la Luz and belongs to the province of Cádiz. Have a look at the luxurious Villas in El Bosque and also the Beach houses in Sanlúcar de Barrameda.
In addition to imposing churches, museums and many small alleys with shops and restaurants, you will always find sherry shops in the city. Some companies offer guided tours and tastings in their vaulted cellars – the sherry comes from Jérez, which used to be called “Xerez”, pronounced “Scherez”. From this word the English later formed “sherry”. Just as Spanish is surely the famous Flamenco dance. At the end of February/beginning of March, the annual Flamenco Festival takes place in Jérez. Also at this time of year it is often almost 20 degrees.

Burgos
|
Burgos is a city of great historical and religious importance. Birthplace of the legendary Cid Campeador, it boasts numerous monuments and places of artistic and cultural interest, including the magnificent Gothic cathedral and the ancient castle, an important Christian stronghold at the time of the Reconquest that still dominates the city. The visit of the city cannot but start from its historical center, or rather the beautiful Plaza Rey San Ferdinando which is accessed by passing the arch of Santa Maria, immediately after crossing the bridge of the same name. It is the square where the main building of the city is located, namely the Cathedral, symbol of Burgos. Other sites to visit are: Arch of Santa Maria, Plaza de Carlos III, Cartuja de Miraflores, Il Parque del Castillo.
Burgos is also famous for its excellent cuisine and excellent wines, which can be enjoyed in the welcoming and familiar atmosphere of the restaurants in the historic center. Thanks to the presence of a large student population, the city also offers a lively nightlife.

Columbretes Islands
|
At 30 miles from the coast of Oropesa (about 48km), is Columbretes, a group of small uninhabited islets of volcanic origin, known above all for the four main islands: Illa Grossa, La Ferrera, La Foradada and El Carallot.
A nature reserve since 1988, Columbretes has been called "The secret Mediterranean", probably because it can only be reached by sea, therefore more protected by the mass tourism assault. Nature in Columbretes reigns supreme, both on land and under water: the volcanic origin of the islands is clearly visible in the shape of the islets, seabed, flora and fauna that are part of it.
The archipelago of Columbretes is located on the whale migration route and, with a little luck, it is possible to spot some of them from the top of the island. But not only: dolphins and turtles are part of the aquatic fauna of Columbretes, and it will be truly amazing to see the silhouettes from the privileged position of the lighthouse.
The largest island in the archipelago, the Isla Grande, can be reached by ferry departing from Castellon.
