Pastrami on rye
A symbol of NYC: a classic sandwich made famous in the Jewish kosher delicatessens of New York City.
The pastrami sandwich is historically made with a cut of meat called naval. This makes the difference with the also well known Corned beef sandwich, which is made from brisket. And even if today it is common to find pastrami made from brisket, the preparation is different.
Pastrami is seasoned with a dry spice mix, smoked and then often steamed again before serving
The best Pastrami Sandwich is probably made at Katz’s Deli, 205 East Houston Street, 212-254-2246

Rio de Janeiro
|
Rio de Janeiro is known all over the world for its exuberant annual Carnival in February, but there are many other reasons to visit, once the dancers and floats left their parades, packed up their feathers and disappeared from the streets. The locals, who call themselves ‘Cariocas’, know the party continues throughout the year – and when you are done with the dancing, there are beaches to lie on and stunning places to explore.
Rio de Janeiro is blessed with natural beauty and its beaches are no exception. The golden sands stretch for over 50 miles and are among the best in the world. Famous beaches like Copacabana and Ipanema attract the rich and the beautiful but with that much space to choose from there is space for everyone, and most of it is clean and very well managed. Getting there from your holiday accommodation in Rio de Janeiro is as easy as picking up a towel and heading for the sunshine. And when the sun goes down there are samba clubs throughout the city in which one can enjoy the heady Latin rhythms and sip on a caipirinha or two.

Feijoada
A must try when visiting Rio. It’s a mix of black beans and several cuts of meat. The traditional ones containing almost every part of the pig, including the tail and the ears. The most eaten, yet not the original one, is made with just rib meat, sausage, and meaty chunks.
Both are normally served with farofa (cassava flour), shredded kale, rice, and oranges to squeeze over the top. Food doesn’t get much heartier than this. Head to the Casa de Feijoada, 10B Rua Prudente de Morais, Ipanema Rio de Janeiro, 22420-040, Brazil

Palermo, Italy
|
The capital of the Italian island of Sicily, Palermo, is one of the country’s lesser known gems. It lacks the upfront tourist cache of Rome and Florence, but that makes its many hidden treasures all the more exciting to discover. The best way to do so is by opting for vacation rentals in Palermo, so you can explore this hectic and exhilarating city as the locals do.
A visit to Italy’s largest opera house, the Teatro Massimo, will enable you to experience a performance in the perfect acoustics of this gorgeous late 19th century building. If you don’t mind a slightly scary but completely absorbing experience, the Cappuccini Catacombs beckon. Here can be seen the mummified or skeletal remains of around 8000 former inhabitants of the city. Some are incredibly well preserved and all are kept in painstaking, if macabre, order. For a lighter treat, you can explore the Sicilian fascination with marionette theater at the Puppet Museum, and maybe catch a performance. If you’d like to take it easy after exploring this magnificent cultural heritage from your vacation rentals in Palermo, then why not take in the Arab souk atmosphere of one of the many street markets, or relish the luxury of the marble lined Hammam bath house and be pampered with a massage and therapy? Alternatively you could head for one of the various public beaches washed by the warm, clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Cannoli
The best cannoli are made with a very thin crust and fried to achieve the perfect crispiness. Traditionally, cannoli are made with fresh ricotta cheese, usually sheep’s milk. The small candied fruits, particularly lemon, orange, or citron and cherry, are sometimes mixed into the cheese mixture. This is a very traditional recipe for cannoli which are a very popular sweet in Sicily. In Palermo, at the ends of cannolo normally they use to lay two beautiful candied cherries and on the top a slice of candied orange peel.
You can find this one of the best cannoli in Palermo at Rosciglione patisserie, Via Don L. Sturzo, 266, 90044 Carini PA, Italia..

Tacos al Pastor
This may be Mexico City's most essential dish nowadays.
The perfect Taco al Pastor: thin layers of pork are marinated in a special mix of garlic, vinegar, chiles. The red-orange color is made by the achiote (annatto seeds) also part of the gravy. All roasted on a vertical revolving spit.
Then it is served into a warm corn tortilla, with the meat sliced off, along with a hunk of pineapple, chopped onion, and cilantro. The taco is always served with lime and a huge variety of salsas.
We suggest to try it at Taquería Los Parados, Eje 2 Pte. Monterrey 333, Roma Sur
