If you're looking for active night-life, the apartment suits you: it's very central, in an area bustling with pubs and terraces. If you want to see the city and have a good night's sleep, forget it. There is a terrace right across your windows. Even with the windows closed (not a great idea in the hot Istanbul) you'll hear not only their music, their chatter, but even the rolling dices of the backgammon players. Also, unless you don't draw carefully the curtain you'll have people at the same level with your bed, 2-3 meters across, willy-nilly watching you (OK, this might sound like a plus for some). More obnoxious, there is a bar on your right, and they don't stop their booming music until 3-4am. Add a next door neighbor dutifully playing his violin exercises around midnight. There's no wi-fI. Also, if you rent an apartment instead of a hotel room, you count on doing some cooking: there is a desk in the dormitory and no other table but a coffee table, really inconvenient to eat at.

the house is located less than a 10 minute walk uphill from Istiklal Street!
the location, I loved it because it allows you to turn istanbul with public transport (bus stops are just a few minutes) but at the same time to enjoy a popular and friendly neighborhood !! Staying in this home allows you to experience the culture of people of istanbul made of kindness and hospitality.
Me and my girlfriend always felt very safe!
The apartment is identical to the pictures posted on the web!!Martino

When we arived, a friend of Faruk told us that there was a problem with the bathroom the flat we booked and Faruk was busy at the moment. So he showed us an alternative. Which in fact wasn't a real one for hyginical reason. After complaining Faruk showed us a better one the next day. We moved and had a beautiful time in istanbul. Very good and quick solution. Thanks!

It is difficult to really evaluate the accomodation since it wasn't the room we have payed for and is not in the photogallery to see. Although right next to the Galata tower and really peaceful the room was not what we hoped for or seen in the photogallery. It seems as somebody lives there and was for a few days out of town. The flatmate with a cat was frendly and helpful.

We stayed in Faruks flat for 5 nights and it was really really good. Clean, comfortable and you can find everything you need. Although its very central and close to the Bosporus. We absolutly recommend it!

we stayed at his private flat in a nice and comfy room and had the possibility to use the hole flat. the location is perfectly in an area where there are nice bars, restaurants and shopping possibilities and all distances to the main sightseeing places are in walking distance.

My only request to the host, prior to booking the flat was: "My only concern is whether the street/building is in a noisy area. Thank you for your clarifications." He failed to tell me about the conditions I mentioned in my review. Also, at the time there was no photo with the terrace visible from the apartment's window, as it is now. Otherwise, Faruk was friendly, he was there to give us the keys right in time, and he tried to help about a ring my wife misplaced in the apartment, without success, though. I can understand that what is noisy for some isn't for others, but I was clear about my request and my concerns. Also, I did not complain in the first 2 days, hoping that the noise and the music were accidental, not a permanent issue. When I finally did complain, Faruk said there's nothing to be done and the customer service of 9flats dutifully informed me that I should have complained in the first 24 hours after my arrival, so my complaint, 3 days after it is no longer their concern.
